Which state should State Navigate launch in next? You decide!
A survey to help us gauge where our audience thinks we should launch next, with news about how we'll determine where to open up shop.
With the finish line in the distance for completing our first state-specific website and databases in South Carolina, the team at State Navigate has debated how we should determine the priority order for where we use the framework for our first state to build out the rest. We’ve come to a decision.
Sidebar: Are you a Virginia election junkie? State Navigate is launching its first official state legislative forecast on June 29th in the Richmond, VA area! Ticket-goers will have the privilege of seeing the forecast 1 month before it becomes public. Don’t miss this opportunity to find out where things will land in November, nab yourself a ticket!
After we complete the first three states of South Carolina, Utah, and Virginia, we will use several factors to guide our path forward in launching State Navigates elsewhere. A simple formula using these factors will calculate our priority order:
Unique website visitors to the State Navigate website in each state since January 1st, 2025, as a fraction of the state population
Survey votes from those who complete our survey, which will be sent out for at least two months
Percentage of incumbent state legislators in each state who follow the State Navigate Twitter/X account
Ease of campaign finance data scraping, as determined by our developers, rated on a scale of 1-5
In a few short weeks, State Navigate will update its ‘Our Goals’ page and release the priority order using the formula, which will update daily. The greatest weight to the formula will be how many incumbent state legislators in each state follow our Twitter/X account, but the other factors make up a majority of the weight in determining priority order.
So, how can you do your part in pushing the state you want to the front of the line? Here’s how.
Share the State Navigate website with people you know in the state.
Take and share our survey with those who share your desire to help push your favorite state up in priority.
If you know a state legislator (or are one), tell them to make sure they follow the State Navigate Twitter/X account. The account will follow back any state legislator it notices to let people know how many state legislators we have in our count for the formula, so it should be an account with their title in it.
By doing these three things, you’ll not only be maximizing the odds of us launching State Navigate in the state of your choice, but you’ll also help us build out our audience in those states across professions and the political spectrum! Our mission is to promote data transparency in state governance for everyone, but as a start-up, we need your help in determining where our team should look for existing interest.
As always, thank you for your interest and support!
Best Regards,
The State Navigate Team
